Building a model bridge: My Own Bay Bridge
Goals: my goal for this project is to make a very similar copy or model of
the new Bay Bridge in California. For this I will need to design and make molds so I can pore concert into the molds so I can make the section for the bridge and also make the pylons. Once I have all the pieces made, I will assemble the bridge like a real construction company would assemble a real bridge. Since it is a cable stay bridge I will have to come up with a design for the cables and how to attach them to the section and the two main cables.
Background: Being from California I have always been around many bridges and go over a huge bridge at a least once week.This has inspired me to take more of an interest in bridges than just driving over them.When I go to college I plan on studying civil engineering. I choose the new Bay Bridge because it has an unique design that I had never seen before. Plus this bridge will be the first of its kind in California, the other side of the Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge are both suspension bridges and the new Ba Bridge is a cable stay bridge.This is still a suspension bridge but it is different from a regular suspension bridge.
