Building a blimp!
What are you doing?
I am building a blimp for my 15% time project. It is a task that has taken outside the box thinking and has tested my creative ability. I am planning on using a trash bag as the main floating device/blimp which will have a propellor that I plan on making using a 3D printer. I just recently ordered a motor that is light enough so it won't weigh down my blimp.
Why are you doing it?
I am building a blimp because it is something that interests me. I always have found blimps fascinating because they seem like they fly without any driver and I am hoping my end product will be like the ones I have seen. Ever since I went to the Jr. Monarchs Hockey game where a blimp was floating around dropping tickets, blimps have always caught my eye. This project is the perfect opportunity for me to build one of my own!
What does this help you do that's important?
Building a blimp doesn't really help me do anything that is important, besides learning the basic skills that will make it fly. Some questions I hope that will be answered throughout the process are, What makes it float? How will I sustain the blimp in the air? With my new motor and propellor I am hoping to get a good understanding of the process to put it all together, then figure out how to work it. My next big step is going to be, making a valve that the air will go through to get in the blimp. I am excited to continue the process and turn this idea into a reality!
