What are you doing?
My 15% time project is to build a model sized house that has been designed by me. Currently, I am using the Google Sketch-up application to help me with my design. Using Google Sketch-up has been a real struggle for me, partially because Google Sketch-up builds in 3D, this is causing a problem because I am not 100% sure of what I want this house to look like. I love the looks of both modern and contemporary style housing. and I am contemplating on if it will be worth making a cross between the two. After all, this is my design
Why are you doing this?
I am doing this project because over the summer I gained an interest in architecture. Gaining the interest of architecture I figured that the perfect project for 15% of my time would be to design and build a house. Going into, and working on this project I am hoping to gain a little bit of knowledge on how architects work to see if this is something I really would like to do as a future career.
What does this help you do thats important?
What this helps me do is to think outside of what an architect may put into an ordinary house. In designing and constructing this model sized house I want to design it in a way that shows originality. Im hoping that this project helps me be able to solve problems in regards to trying something, in this case designing, and coming up with a solution. This is important to me because I am a junior and it would be nice to know what I want to do in college and because this is one of my interest, the end product of this project will really determine whether or not this is something I want to do.
